Francisco de Paula


Francisco de Paula is the Director of The Calmer Approach Limited and the primary developer of The CALMER Approach. He is a Neurobehavioral Support Practitioner supporting people in their natural environments. He has provided behaviour support for over 12 years and has been working in the disability sector for over 22 years.  

Francisco is always looking for new evidence in supporting quality of life, increasing capacity and reducing restrictions.  He has a focus on co-designing therapeutic support, building capable and active environment enhanced participation, engagement, choice, control, decision making.  

Francisco has developed the CALMER Approach (www.calmerapproach.com) in pursuit of translating theory into everyday best practice. 

Francisco completed a Bachelor of Education in Disability Studies through ACU and further training through the Institute for Applied Behaviour Analysis (IABA), Think Kids, Child Trauma Academy, Trauma Research Foundation's Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies. He has a Cert IV in Training and Assessment and is a certified Person-Centred Active Support facilitator.
