Autistic, neurodivergent (ND) and highly sensitive (HS) clients can often present with difficulty connecting to parts or becoming flooded by them. This talk will introduce clinicians to a unique way of supporting clients’ systems in order to help them process and heal within the IFS framework. The role of the visual field in memory will be explored as to how this can be utilised to externalise and map parts in a powerful and engaging way.
ND and HS clients' internal systems can quickly become overwhelmed by protectors with mottos of “never again”. The process that will be introduced here offers a novel way to titrate client’s work into small and manageable steps. Clients will be supported to meet challenging protectors and vulnerable exiles. They will be assisted to stay calm and compassionate (in Self) whilst contacting parts that may be highly triggering and cause protective parts to step in - think intellectualising, numbing, and so forth.
