Dr. Kristen Allottt is a naturopathic physician, international speaker, and author. For over twenty years, she has been known as a pioneering advocate for the use of whole foods nutrition for improving energy, mental clarity, and decision-making. In her seminars, people learn how to support their brains and body by treating the physiological and hormonal causes of mental health and addictions. Being passionate about achievable results, she provides resources to support clients and providers. She regularly provides full-day seminars to mental health professionals, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and the Washington State Courts. In 2021, New Harbinger Publishing released her new workbook, Fuel Your Brain, Not Your Anxiety: Stop the Cycle of Worry, Fatigue, and Sugar Cravings with Simple Protein-Rich Foods.

  1. 5 tenets to support the immune system
  • It is difficult to enhance the immune system but it easy to suppress it
  • Have a schedule, pertinent
  • Maintain circadian rhythms
  • Food: protein every 4 hours
  • Movement: Moving your body is important for the immune system
  • Be out doors: sunlight and fresh air and 'forest bathing’ are
  • Maintain relational connections while social distancing
  • Learn - what do you want or what does your client want to have when the pause is over
  • Put screens away before bed
  • Watch alcohol and marijuana intake 
    • Handouts will be provided 
  1. Managing anxiety and increasing energy and mental clarity with protein rich foods
  • Reactive brain verses responsive brain
  • How lizard brain treats help with anxiety, irritation, agitation, 3 am waking, PTSD symptoms in adults and children, and transitions to new activities
  • Protein every 3 hours experiment
  • How to read food labels to know what your energy will be in 3-4 hours

  1. Help clients start cooking
  • This is an opportunity to be at a clients home and help them start learning how to self-care skills such as cooking, movement, and creating a routine. 
  • Help client strategize about what to cook and eat or order out and eat
    • Handouts will be provided for each topic

  1. Articulate which nutrients are beneficial for reducing symptoms of anxiety, anger and depression related to the Coronavirus pandemic.
  2. Assess diet, exercise, and sleep in clients to improve their level of functioning during the Coronavirus pandemic.
  3. Incorporate complementary strategies to help improve your clients’ energy and mental clarity during the Coronavirus pandemic.
