Description

It’s an age-old question – how much of myself do I bring to my work as a therapist?

With technology and related changes in how relationships work, it has become increasingly difficult to manage boundaries with clients.

Plus, as society becomes more divisive, you may find yourself reacting more strongly to your client’s values and beliefs.

From clients looking therapists up on social media, to the nuances involved in conducting telehealth from a home office, to the ways that social grouping along political lines has become rampant – it’s time to update how we practice.

This training will zero in on the most important aspects of “Self-of-Therapist” work, including practical guidance on boundaries, countertransference and self-disclosure. You will learn how to bring yourself fully into sessions in ways that ultimately move therapy forward.

So watch ethics and boundaries expert Kirsten Lind Seal, PhD, LMFT, who has helped thousands of clinicians avoid ethical pitfalls in their clinical practices. This training will cover:

  • Why a deeper awareness of boundaries is crucial for navigating therapist self-disclosure both online and IRL (in real life)
  • How therapist self-disclosure can deepen the therapeutic relationship
  • Three crucial countertransference pitfalls, including possibly rupturing the alliance
  • How to develop a clear method for managing countertransference in session
  • And so much more!

Finish this training with examples and plans to ethically and legally be your authentic self in therapy all while serving your clients!
