In his classic work The Road Less Traveled, Scott Peck described psychotherapy as “an act of love.” Yet therapists often receive (and express) conflicting messages around the expression of love for, and with, our clients. This session begins with the premise that the therapeutic encounter often begins with an injury or misunderstanding around the meaning and experience of love. As such, regardless of what method we use in working to heal the mind, body, and spirit, we must also shift from thinking about our client to feeling with them. This can take place through heart-centred practices such as intentionality, movement, chanting, and writing. Our time together is an invitation to honour the love within ourselves and the sacred space between us and our clients. In this experiential session, you’ll:

Sabrina N’Diaye, PhD, LCSW-C, MDiv received her PhD in mind-body medicine from Saybrook University, where she studied the use of complementary and alternative interventions for physical, emotional, and spiritual growth. Her dissertation study focused on the use of guided imagery as a healing tool for African American women with chronic STIs. Since completing her doctorate, she has developed curriculum and served as adjunct faculty for the Maryland University of Integrative Health and Saybrook University. She is a proud senior faculty member of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, where she teaches the art of self-care to healthcare professionals around the globe. She is currently an integrative psychotherapist and founder of the Heart Nest Center for Peace and Healing in Baltimore, Maryland. There, she lovingly serves women, couples, other healers, and small groups. Her approach to healing is a blend of wisdom, science, and ancient spiritual practices.
