Description

A significant increase in presentations of gender diversity offer therapists great opportunity to change the dominant clinical narratives from that of pathologised non-conformity within a gender binary to a spectrum of affirming Self Led identifications. Cisgender clinicians are often unaware of the unconscious bias and shadowspots they bring to working with gender diverse clients, reinforcing a lack of safety and internalized narratives of exclusion and difference. This session looks at how IFS therapy as a methodology can support clients to work with the burdens and conflicts of their truths while growing up with dominant gender norms, and supports clinicians to safely and inclusively therapeutically support all parts of gender-diverse clients and their families.
