Description

Gestalt therapy was developed from the 1930s, and was very popular in the 60s and 70s. as part of the Humanistic Psychology movement and the growth of Personal Development groups.  It is now enjoying a renaissance as new research begins to show the effectiveness of many of Gestalt Therapy's core concepts. Some of its  strengths are the focusing on awareness in the present moment (the here-and- now), the use of 'experiments' such as the Empty Chair/Hot Seat, and the integration of different and often disowned (the Shadow) parts of oneself.  In a similar vein, the therapy session is more often 'here-and-now' with the therapist striving to 'meet' the client in an accepting and authentic manner.  Gestalt Therapy practice stands alone or is easily integrated into many other therapeutic approaches.

In this one day training event, Ari will spend some time on explaining an overview of the theory that guides the therapy process and interaction; however, the main aspect of this day is learning Gestalt Therapy skills and techniques that you can directly apply to your current therapy practice.  These will include the use of Experimentation (The Empty Chair, Dream work, Working with objects etc.), Constellations, and the Dialogic Relationship between therapist and client. You will develop the skills and confidence to use all of these techniques and processes.

Each aspect of the training will be emonstrated in role-plays, followed by discussion of your comments and questions.
