Releasing the Pain of Grief, Guilt, and Trauma
Copyright :

After decades of seeing people in the aftermath of profound loss and trauma, I’ve learned there’s a critical distinction between prevention & postvention strategies, and that too often clinicians use prevention strategies when postvention is needed. Not understanding the difference can lead to significant harm and unknowingly increase self-blame, rumination, and more when working with everyone from those who have lost loved ones to abuse survivors. Therapists have minimal, if any, training in postvention strategies that can greatly enhance treatment. You’ll discover:

  • Uncover the pivotal differences between prevention and postvention language and interventions and when to use both.
  • Demonstrate four postvention strategies to help clients stuck in rumination, release guilt and shame
  • Learn postvention meaning-making strategies the shift troubling narratives for clients and help lead to post-traumatic growth
