Forward to the Past: Healing and Therapies in the 21st Century
with Gabor Maté, MD

Traditional cultures have used psychedelic substances with Shamanic modalities for hundreds of years. Today, the principles on which these modalities are based have now been validated by Western scientific approaches such as psycho-neuroimmunology and interpersonal neurobiology.

While no panacea, shamanic and psychedelic treatment can offer an important—and frequently transformative—approach to treatment.

Clinical pearls of wisdom will emerge from this workshop, where Gabor Maté, MD, will help you better understand the reasons why each modality would be best used in different circumstances.
Learning from Non-Ordinary States: Mindfulness, Compassion & Psychedelics
with Ronald D. Siegel, PsyD

Research on psychedelics-assisted psychotherapy (PAP) has mushroomed, offering not only possible breakthrough treatments for PTSD, treatment-resistant depression (TRD), addictions, and end-of-life existential anxiety...

But also provides new insights into the nature of psychological distress and the mechanism of healing.

But how can these developments inform our clinical practice if we are not participating in the research? Join Ronald D. Siegel, PsyD, and explore the common healing factors in non-ordinary states as well as practical applications of these in all forms of therapy.
Trauma & Altered State of Consciousness: Results of Psychedelic Studies
with Bessel van der Kolk, MD

The interest in trauma and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy is growing exponentially, due in part to the therapy field's expanded view of the origins of trauma, and its impact on the psyche.

Research (Phase IV, FDA) and clinical studies have found significant benefits in using psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy (PAP) for trauma treatment and recovery.

In this session, Dr. van der Kolk reviews the literature and clinical results in the treatment of complex trauma. Together, you'll explore trauma and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy as treatment. The benefits of PAP will be compared to traditional trauma treatment and as an adjunct to traditional treatment protocols.
Expanding the Nature and Breadth of Consciousness—Holistic Psychedelic Approach
with Philip Wolfson, MD

Psychedelics often show us who we really are, our "true self." This is often not the image that we have of ourselves. This workshop on psychedelic integration explores the importance of telling our “new” story from our psychedelic experience and integrating it into our daily lives.
Integration Strategies for Psychedelic Psychotherapy: Focus on Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
with Philip Wolfson, MD

Ketamine has been used legally for depression, anxiety, and a host of other mental health conditions...

But just as the assessment is an important part of Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy (PAP), the integration after PAP treatment is even more important.

This session reviews the key elements of integration strategies specific to the mental health condition being addressed. Ketamine treatment has some specific nuances that will be outlined and compared to other psychedelics.

You'll leave with an understanding as to when ketamine-assisted psychotherapy might be beneficial to specific patients.
Internal Family Systems (IFS): A Simple and Effective Map to the Psychedelic Territory
with Dick Schwartz, PhD

The psyche is a delicate ecosystem and psychedelics are powerful agents that can affect it profoundly. That effect can be very positive. But there's also the potential for extreme disruption.

IFS provides a non-pathologizing map to this inner territory that helps facilitators and subjects alike maintain a steady presence and not overreact to sometimes dramatic shifts. In this workshop, IFS Founder Dick Schwartz, PhD, will address probable risks and benefits and suggest this as a model for further research.
Transformative Psychotherapy: Process and Methodology
with Gita Vaid, MD

Psychedelic medicines, when dosed correctly and in the appropriate context, can act as powerful catalytic tools for healing, repair, and new growth potential... Moving healing paradigms towards wellness, resilience, emergence, and self-actualizations.

This session provides an overview of the transformational process and methodology, and includes a clinical example.
Training Medical and Mental Health Professionals in Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapies
with Janis Phelps, PhD

At the present time, only a few states are exploring guidelines and certification criteria for a PAP guide.

Within the next several years, there will be a national need to train thousands of medical and mental health professionals who will be ready to conduct psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.

This session will review the optimal training curriculum and processes for this therapeutic specialty and provide answers to the number one question on your mind: "How do I become a psychedelic therapist?!"

His 2014 #1 New York Times best-seller, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Treatment of Trauma, transforms our understanding of traumatic stress, revealing how it literally rearranges the brain's wiring — specifically areas dedicated to pleasure, engagement, control, and trust. Richard Schwartz, PhD
Richard Schwartz, PhD, began his career as a family therapist and an academic at the University of Illinois at Chicago. There he discovered that family therapy alone did not achieve full symptom relief, and in asking patients why, he learned that they were plagued by what they called "parts." He called that inner essence the Self and was amazed to find it even in severely diagnosed and traumatized patients. From these explorations, the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model was born in the early 1980s.
